We depart from Shahbandar Jetty Kuala Terengganu around
10.30am. From the jetty to Redang it takes around 2 hours by ferry or speed
boat. For this trip we stay in Long Beach and we are not going to the Chagar
Hutang Turtle Santuary as before. While waiting for check in, we set up our
marine awareness booth, and at the same time, Aimi (Sea Turtle Research Unit
Research Assistant) introduce us to Michael and Trevor where both of them are
internship student from University of Southampton, England. Before I
continue my story, for this trip, there are few others that join us such as
Syafinaz, Zu and Zaf (University of Malaysia Terengganu internship student).
Basically the booth was open to give the awareness education
to the tourist, as our theme for this program is Save Sea Turtle, all
activities that involved are to introduced why it is important to save this
beautiful marine creatures.

6.30 pm
We start release baby turtle to the ocean in front of Laguna
Redang Island Resort beach. Each participant have chance to release each
turtle, there are few precaution to hold the baby, as it is hatch on the
morning before, it was still soft. So, we need to hold it at it soft-shell using
right hand and the left hand are placed under the baby turtle without attach
them to make sure it not suddenly dropped to the ground. After everyone is
ready, baby turtle we slowly placed on the ground, and let it slowly crawling
to the water.

Sea Turtle is natal homing where it will return to the first
beach where it is release after 20 years to mating and lay down the egg.
However not each released baby turtle have high chance to become adult, it is
around 1:1000 ratio of baby turtle become adult due to predator. Baby turtle
usually are become prey to the shark, eagle any many more.
7.00 pm
Arif and I go for swimming in the pool. Actually we went to
swim after dinner, even we still feel very full, but I still want to swim,
Michael, Trevor and the rest stay in the room. We finish our swim around
8.00pm, the sky start to dark but I love the environment, the pool with
reflection of light reflection on the each side of the pool.
9.00 pm
Arif, Michael, Trevor and I didn’t have any plan for
tonight, so I suggest how if we have a walk along the beach. As Long Beach
Redang Island is one of the most beautiful beaches, it is nice to have a look
night view here. We walked until at the end of the beach, I think it more than
3 km far. On the way back, we rest for a while at jakuzy area (well I think it
is not a while, we stay there almost 1 to 2 hours.. hahaha). Michael and Trevor
told me this is their first time here, in the tropical island. It is very nice,
all of us lay down on the Jacuzzi under rhu tree, facing the open ocean of
South China Sea. The wind was so slow, sometimes we almost fall in sleep. :D. BTW there are lots of topics we talk about here, I asked them about their degree (all of us Marine Biology students). We talk more about the ocean, sea urchin, shark, we talk
about Chagar Hutang Turtle Sanctuary, Portuguese Man of War and Cuboid jelly
fish where Trevor and I scared the most.
It’s like a karaoke battle as we heard a song from the bar
at the right side and the karaoke restaurant far on the left side. Even it is
far, we still can hear it, sometimes we song ourselves here. It is very nice time. I think it is
difficult to found the one that you can get along easily, but, they told me,
Michael will going back to England on 15th August meanwhile, Trevor will
going to Hong Kong first before fly to England to continue their semester.

Good morning!! I woke up earlier today, but everyone still
sleep, hahaha. After have a bath, I woke up Arif and the rest for breakfast. After
breakfast, Arif and I walk around the beach, I snap few pictures here..
We open the booth around 9.30 am until 5.30 pm, it’s is
quiet boring when here as if there are no tourist around our booth. Usually I
just sat on the stage with Michael, Trevor and Arif. Michael and Trevor ask me
how my sleep last night, I told them I have a good sleep but I think our room
was very cold. Yeah of course we open the air cond at 17 ˚C and open the fan
too. They ask me what the highest and lowest temperature here in Malaysia? I
told them maybe around 16 ˚C (at Cameron Highland and Genting Highland) until 37
˚C. Meanwhile they told me the highest temperature in their country just around
12 and the lowest can achieve negative something’s. No wonder why last night I
feel very cold until I shivering on my blanket.. bahahaha but its ok .:)
6.30 pm
We close our booth and start the turtle release event near
the beach infront of our resort. After finished, we going to the have dinner.
Arif and I like yesterday, we going to the pool again hahaha. We going back to
the room but I only saw Trevor are there. He told us Michael are waiting of us
at the restaurant infront of the lobby. Arif didn’t want to go, but ask he to
to too. Trevor just stay in the room finishing his internship presentation for
his university. We stay in the restaurant until finished the show around 12pm.

Good day!! I woke up early today too, meanwhile the rest
still sleeping, well today is the day before we going back tomorrow. I hope
this is the nice day better than before, maybe. I woke up everyone, Michael and
Trevor will have their breakfast in canteen today (yesterday their turn have
breakfast, lunch & dinner in VIP restaurant) and today is our turn. Yeayhh
even if we eat together I will more happy. Before Arif and I go breakfast, we
go swim at the beach first, after a moment, Michael came and join us.

We finish the turtle release event at 6.30pm, Michael and
Trevor g for dinner first meanwhile Arif & I directly go to swim. Actually Michael
& Trevor wanna join us, but maybe after dinner. Yeahh they came after
dinner. Even they full, they still swim with us. We have very good time, swim,
water fighting, free dive and catch each other leg and sometime we dive but we
let the eyes on the water with scary face like in the horror movies hahah. We
going back to room around 8.00pm, after have a bath Arif and I go to dinner.
9.30pm
Aimi told us to gather at the booth side, for pack all of
booth staff. After that, Arif, Michael, Trevor and I stay in the restaurant. Like usual Michael like to stay in the restaurant watching the show. We stay here until 12am and
going back.
01/08/16
Like usual, I woke up early today, I woke up Arif, Trevor
and Michael too as this breakfast will be our last breakfast together. After
that we go to swim in the beach, on the way back to the room we still swim in
the pool again.. hahah.

We check out around 10.30 am, all of us stay in the lobby waiting for ferry around 12.00pm meanwhile Michael and Trevor will go to Chagar Hutang on 1.00pm.
